Opportunities

What this guide covers

How to find event opportunities on Floasis and apply as a performer, volunteer, or teacher.

Before you start

  • Sign in to Floasis.
  • Complete your core profile (name, phone, suburb/region, required agreements).
  • For performer applications: set up your performer profile and add a performer name.
  • For teaching applications: enable your teaching profile, add at least one active workshop, and select which workshops you are offering when you apply.
Invitation matching preferences are not required to apply — they only affect organiser matching for invitations.

Steps

1. Browse event opportunities

  1. Open Opportunities (/portal/opportunities).
  2. Review listings for events that need performers, volunteers, or teachers.
  3. Read the offer, scope, and event summary shown for each opportunity.

Private events: Location details may be masked until you have an accepted relationship or an organiser-origin invitation in an eligible state.

Authenticated members may discover some private events through opportunity listings when the organiser enables member discovery.

Event owners can apply to performer, volunteer, and teaching opportunities on events they own, subject to the same eligibility rules as other members.

Concluded or underway events are excluded from open listings.

2. Review requirements before applying

Each opportunity type has role-specific checks:

  • Performer: complete core profile, performer name set, no blocking active relationship for that role on the event.
  • Volunteer: complete core profile, no blocking active relationship.
  • Teaching: complete core profile, teaching profile enabled, at least one active workshop selected for the application.

3. Submit an application

  1. Open the opportunity you want.
  2. Read the application disclosure — it explains what information the organiser will receive, such as your name, contact details, performer bio, and contribution history summary.
  3. For teaching, select the workshop(s) you are offering.
  4. Submit your application.

Your application creates a member-origin relationship in Applied status while the organiser reviews it.

The organiser is notified by email when another member applies. If you are applying to your own event, no organiser notification email is sent.

4. Withdraw if needed

If your application is still pending or you have accepted a role and need to step back, you can withdraw from the opportunity detail page when the workflow allows it.

Withdrawal notifies the organiser when attention is required.

What happens next

The event organiser reviews your application and accepts or declines. If accepted, you gain access to event coordination contact and your event appears under Events I'm involved in.

If an organiser invites you directly instead, see Respond to an Event Invitation.

Important information

  • Insurance documents and policy numbers are never shared with organisers during review.
  • You can only hold one active blocking relationship per opportunity type on an event, for example you cannot have two competing performer applications.
  • Teaching organiser invitations are not available yet — teaching participation currently starts with member applications only.
